Ready at Dawn's New Title Revealed

Ready at Dawn's New Title Revealed

Ready at Dawn have indeed announced their new game, titled De-Formers, and it could not be more different from The Order. Not just do a 180 and go in a different direction, the studio has gone completely off the map on this one.

Still, among the employees, De-Formers isn't as new an idea as we may think.

"It's was brought up several times, this small idea, and how we could make it into a game," chief technical officer Andrea Pessino said. "We tabled it for the time being before The Order. Now, we've gone back to it. It's extremely different from anything else we've made."

Yea, I'll say. Different is right, De-Formers is all about hectic, frenzied, chaos. Ready at Dawn recently held a demo event and showed off De-Formers' arena style combat. As GameSpot's Mike Mahardy wrote,

It's an exceedingly kinetic game, encouraging you to keep moving if you want to survive. With a dash attack, shield maneuver, light projectiles, and a counterattack throw, De-Formers is as much about offense as it is evasion. The object is to blow up your spherical enemies with these abilities, or launch them over the edge of the arenas a la Super Smash Bros or Gang Beasts.

Sounds like great fun, but not what I had expected from RaD. Matches unfold and finish up rather quickly, as De-Formers continues the "bite-sized" gameplay trend of Rocket League and Gang Beasts, wherein players can play a game in just a few short minutes. Seems Ready at Dawn aim to follow this trend wholeheartedly.
