PlayStation Plus Increasing Prices

PlayStation Plus Increasing Prices

According to the PlayStation Blog today, the prices for PlayStation Plus will be going up as of Sept 22, 2016.

Yearly subscriptions will go up to $59.99 USD/$69.99 CAD. That's a $10 and $20 increase respectively. 3-month subscriptions will be going up to $24.99 USD/$29.99 CAD. Monthly subscriptions will also go up to $11.99 CAD but will remain at $9.99 USD.

If you are a current member, the new prices will take effect if your membership renews on or after this date.

If you don't want to pay the increased prices, you've got time to shut off the auto-renewal. I say that because I've seen quite a lot of people talking about it.

This marks the first time that PS Plus membership prices will increase in the U.S. and Canada since the launch of the service in 2010. The new pricing reflects the current market conditions while enabling us to continue providing exceptional value to our members. As a member, you will continue to enjoy the benefits and features that enable shared experiences, such as online multiplayer, free games, and exclusive discounts. You will also continue to get exclusive benefits such as online game save storage and discounts across the PlayStation digital services.
If you do not wish to continue your subscription, please be sure to cancel it by turning off auto-renewal in your account settings before September 22, 2016.

Well there you have it. PS+ will be getting slightly more expensive, but not terribly much. This just bring PS+ in line with the pricing for new games. It feels like a non-issue, but I know there are people without extra cash and every cent matters. I get that, I've been there. So, if anyone wants to chat it out, hit me up in the comments or on twitter (@OmegaSpider227).
