Destiny 2 Livestream drops a lot of news

Destiny 2 Livestream drops a lot of news

Yesterday, Bungie held a livestream for Destiny 2. During that hour-long event, there was a lot of news given. I've been not writing for a while, but today, I'm here to unpack some of this Destiny 2 news with you. Let's get into it.

New Supers

Each of the classes will be getting a new Super, once you regain your light.

Titans will become Sentinels, gaining a glowing, purple shield that can be used as a normal shield, blocking enemy fire, bashing enemies as TItans do, or it can be thrown and ricochet from one enemy to another.

Hunters will become Arcstriders. Gaining a lance made of lightning, Arcstrider hunters will move swiftly through the battlefield, spinning the arc lance around them and tearing through enemies all along the way.

Warlocks will unlock the Dawnblade. The Dawnblade is a flaming sword which can fire projectile arcs of flame while floating above enemies. Or of course, Dawnblades can come down and cut enemies in half.

New Planets

Destiny 2 will have a new campaign, taking Guardians exploring on all new worlds.

  • Earth's European Dead Zone -- A new final refuge, humanity begins rebuilding after the destruction of The Last City.
  • Titan -- A moon of Saturn and entirely covered with Ocean. With no landmass, the humans who lived on Titan during the Golden Age built towering, monolithic structures, which the Guardians will be exploring. This is where Commander Zavala has gone to recover.
  • Nessus -- Occupied by the Vex, Nessus has almost been completely transformed into a machine world. Guardians will find Cayde-6 here.
  • IO -- A moon of Jupiter, IO was the last place to feel the Traveler's presence before the collapse of the Golden Age. IO is sacred to Guardians, and particularly so for Warlocks. Ikora has taken up refuge here.

Possibly the most important part of having new worlds to explore is that each can be accessed via the directory, without going into orbit!

New Activities

On each of these new planets will be some new activities to partake of. These new activities include Adventures, new kinds of quests from NPCs on each world. There will also be activities called Lost Sectors. Lost Sectors will be dungeons with locked treasure caches inside, with Bosses who hold the key. Each new activity will be shown on the overview map. Players will also be able to get to each activity via the Directory.

New Crucible

For Destiny 2, the PvP has been reworked. For starters, each PvP session will be 4v4, across all modes! Bungie today mentioned new Crucible modes, the first of which will be Countdown, Destiny's first "Attack and Defend" type game.

Clans

Destiny 2 will have official clan support! More than just "Clan tags," Destiny 2 will feature new in-game clan toolset, including rosters, and custom clan banners. When searching for a clan, players will be able to see a clan's name, custom banner, and read their Motto, to get a better read on a clan before making any commitment.

Destiny 2 will also feature new ways of joining up with your clan called...

Guided Games

Guided Games is a new feature, which will help players connect with other players for Strikes, Raids, and Nightfalls. More than just Matchmaking, Guided Games will be able to connect a solo player new to Raids find a group which can guide them through the experience. Better yet, there's no commitment sticking with the group after the run ends. If the player enjoys their new group, they can request to join their clan or part ways after their Raid is done.

PC Support

Lastly, Destiny 2 will finally be available for PC players. Bungie and Blizzard will be bringing Destiny 2 to PC exclusively through Battle.net.

Destiny 2 has already been announced for September 8. There were also some special editions announced alongside it, as well as an Expansion Pass including Expansion I and II, giving players access to new story missions, activities, competitive multiplayer, and plenty of new weapons, armor, and gear.

There will also be some new PlayStation exclusive content until at least Fall 2018. There will be an open beta this summer, but those who pre-order the game, you will be given beta access early.
