Red Dead Online Gifting Gold...Again?
Rockstar are at it again! Red Dead Redemption 2 has been in the news consistently over the last few weeks and there seems to be no end in sight so buckle up folks, here’s another one. Red Dead Redemption 2’s online mode, Red Dead Online (RDO), has been having some issues with its economy since launch. Rockstar has been doing their best to get things down to a manageable level, but it’s an evolving process.
An update from the Rockstar Blog notes a good many things coming to the RDO Community. In this update, Rockstar announced that they are giving an additional 15 Gold Bars to any players of Red Dead Online Beta who play before December 20. When it’s your turn, the Gold will automatically be dropped into your character’s pocket. So, to anyone who hasn’t yet jumped into RDO, this might be a good time. At least to start playing and be eligible for those free gold bars. After all, free gold is nothing to scoff at.
Gold Gift: As a thank you for your ongoing support, we are awarding everyone who has played from the Red Dead Online Beta launch through this Thursday, December 20th with a gift of 15 additional gold bars. The awards will begin rolling out today and if you haven’t experienced the Red Dead Online Beta yet, play by Thursday, December 20th for eligibility. All gold bar gifts should be delivered by Monday, December 24th. Keep an eye out for an alert screen when entering the Red Dead Online Beta to confirm the gift.
Rockstar are also giving away RDO$ to certain players. To any players who pre-ordered Red Dead Redemption 2 and/or purchased the Special or Ultimate Editions will be receiving an additional RDO$ reward. These little gifts should start appearing Friday, December 21st. The breakdown is listed below:
Special Edition Owners: RDO$100
Ultimate Edition Owners: RDO$1,000
Everyone who pre-ordered: RDO$100 (in addition to Ultimate and Special Edition gifts)
As with the Gold, these gifts will automatically be applied to your character’s balance, so you should see an alert message notifying you of your earnings when you start up Red Dead Online.
The update had one more note: the launch of the Red Dead Online Store. The RDO Store has Gold Bars for sale at various prices. Gold Bars are the premium currency in RDO and can be used to expedite the process of buying weapons, outfits, horses and tack, etec. Gold bars can be bought at a decent range of prices, starting at $10 and going as high as &100. The full price list is as follows:
25 Gold Bars for $9.99
55 Gold Bars for $19.99
150 Gold Bars for $49.99
245 Gold Bars for $74.99
350 Gold Bars for $99.99
There is also a “One Time Special Offer” that gives 25 Gold Bard for $5, essentially cutting the price in half.
As far as microtransaction stores go, this one is about in line with what we’ve come to expect. It will be interesting to see how this store affects (or breaks) the in-game economy of RDO.
