Independent publisher Surprise Attack Games rebrands as Fellow Traveller

Australian indie games publisher Surprise Attack Games has announced their official rebranding as Fellow Traveller. Fellow Traveller is refocusing their mission to "a new focus on funding, supporting, and publishing unusua games, especially those with narrative at their core."

To coincide with the relaunch, Fellow Traveller also announced two games to be published under the new label: Neo Cab and In Other Waters. The former, Neo Cab, puts payers in the shoes of one of the last remaining human cab drivers in an almost entirely automated cyberpunk world; the latter, In Other Waters, has payers exploring the waters of an alien planet as a xenobiologist in search of the truth of humanity.

Managing director for Fellow Traveller, Chris Wright, founded Surprise Attack in 2011 as an indie games consultancy after leaving THQ.

“The indie scene has matured and evolved since I started Surprise Attack in 2011. Back then, the idea of an indie publisher was seen as an oxymoron, but today, there is a large and mature group of indie labels with more launching all the time,” said Wright.

“Just like the indie record labels that inspired us to start the company, we want to build a reputation for a particular flavor of game. We believe this is the next step for indie labels to help developers stand out in an increasingly crowded market and help gamers find the kind of game they love. We’re all about the weird and the wonderful and pushing the boundaries of how games tell stories. We hope to attract both the developers and gamers who are into our kind of game to join us on this journey.”

Many of the publisher's past games are also on sale across as many platforms as you can think of, from current-gen consoles, to steam, and GOG. a couple of those games include the Orwell series and Hecknet.
