The Division 2 State of the Game Recap and Tidal Basin Update Incoming
Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 (that’s still a mouthful) has been out for a little over a week now, longer if you bought the Gold or Ultimate editions of the game, and though that may seem like a short amount of time, for hungry and eager Shared World shooter fans, that’s more than enough time to get to the endgame. From there, the question becomes what to do next? Well, Ubisoft and Massive Entertainment have got you covered!
Yesterday, Ubisoft held another State of the Game, their weekly community livestream where members of the development team get together to speak about what new content will be coming to The Division and now The Division 2! This week, there was a lot of news about the newest major update to The Division 2, titled the Tidal Basin Update, including the release date, info on the promised World Tier 5, Invasions, gear sets, and more. If you would like to watch the State of the Game video for yourself, it’s embedded below, but if not, I’ll be doing my best to post the best bits below that. Keep reading to learn more!
Tidal Basin and World Tier 5
When the update hits, players in World Tier 4 will see a new Stronghold appear on their map. the Black Tusk paramilitary faction will take over Tidal Basin as their stronghold and it will be up to Division Agents to take them down. Upon doing so, Players will be granted access to World Tier 5. World Tier 5 will increase players max Gear Score from 450 to 500. Obviously, Players will need to be at the current level 30 cap as this is all endgame content.
Once players get into that new World Tier, new gear will be dropping. With new gear comes new Gear Sets. To get you from 450 to 500, there are going to be 3 new gear sets: Hardwired, Ongoing Directive, and True Patriots. Currently, however, we don’t know what new behaviors these Gear Sets will have. Experimentation is always a huge part of putting together builds and that’s certainly going to be true here.
Invasions and Gear Sets
Alongside the new Stronghold will come new Invaded Missions. Previously completed missions, campaign or otherwise, may also become “invaded”, meaning new enemies will take over those landmarks or areas, giving players a reason to go back and complete those missions again. It won’t be a simple retread of old grounds, however. With new enemies come new tactics and the Black Tusk will be some of the most challenging enemies in the game.
Upon completing the Tidal Basin Stronghold, other invaded missions and activities will appear. Invasions will be on a weekly roll out, though it is unclear which missions will become invaded as there’s currently no set schedule. Players can also choose to replay missions in either standard or Invaded variants. All of the Invaded missions will have a new selectable “Heroic” Difficulty for those players who really want to challenge themselves.
Tidal Basin Release Date
The Tidal Basin update will be available on April 5, after a short maintenance period. Tidal Basin is part of a year of new content for The Division 2 and will be free for all players. Ahead of that above mentioned maintenance period, there will be a patch which will address a number of issues the game has been having, including co-op scaling weapon drops, duplicate drops, and the mod inventory “mark as junk” issues, and more. That patch will actually be rolling out during the day on March 28, 9:30 AM-12:30 PM CET/4:30 AM-7:30 AM EDT (feel free to translate that into your local time).
There’s a lot happening on April 5 for The Division 2, and I’m sure there are many players out there who can’t wait! If you’re one of those players who managed to hit endgame already, let me know! If you are still getting there (like me) tell me! I want to hear from you one way or another. Hit me up across the internet @OmgaSpider227!
