A New Addition to the Nintendo Switch Family
After multiple rumors and a myriad of leaks, Nintendo have officially announced the newest addition to the Nintendo Switch Family: the Nintendo Switch Lite. The Switch Lite is smaller, thinner and sleeker than the Original Switch. The Nintendo Switch Lite is perfect for players who love the Switch, but live a more on-the-go lifestyle. It is also great for households with more than one gamer in the family who all want to play on the Switch. Now, everybody can have their own! They just won’t be able to color customize their Joy-Cons.

Catchy beat aside, the Nintendo Switch Lite trailer shows off a few situations the Switch Lite is good for, and it ends with the most likely situation that the Lite exists: multiple Switch’s in one household. The final scene is one of a kid moving from his switch downstairs on the dock to one upstairs in his bedroom.
Seriously though, the Switch Lite does lose a few features of the OG Switch. Being a dedicated handheld, the Lite does not dock and cannot connect to a TV. It also does not have detachable Joy-Cons. Without Joy-Cons, the Lite won’t have the motion controls or HD Rumble, all of which were largely touted as big features when the Switch first launched.
The Nintendo Switch Lite will be available to buy on September 20, 2019 for $199, in time to pick up a second Switch for Christmas.
