PlayStation 5 Showcase Trailer Roundup
Well, here we are! After the Sept. PlayStation 5 Showcase, we finally have the details we’ve all wanted for months: the PS5 price and release date! Alongside those details, we also got a slew of new trailers, some with release windows. The PS5 launch lineup is starting to take form, everybody!
Starting with the important stuff, the PlayStation 5 will cost $499 US, while the PlayStation 5 Digital Edition will cost $399. Both systems will release on November 12 in the US, Japan, Canada, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, and South Korea, November 19 in other parts of the world.
There were some very interesting games shown in this showcase, including new games which hadn’t been announced yet, such as Final Fantasy XVI and Portkey Games Hogwarts Legacy (still unsure how to title that one). We also got a look at gameplay for Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales and Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. The latter of those two is getting an Alpha, exclusive to PlayStation this weekend, Sept 18-21. We also found out about games like Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition and Fortnite, which will be on PlayStation 5 at launch.
PlayStation also announced a new addition coming to PlayStation Plus, the PS Plus Collection, which will make high-profile PlayStation 4 games such as God of War, Bloodborne, Monster Hunter World, Persona 5, and The Last of Us Remastered available to download and play as part of players’ PS Plus subscription.
Finally, we were treated to one more surprise announcement, God of War Ragnarok, coming sometime in 2021.
There was a lot to take in tonight, and a lot more than I included here. Hey, I’m only one person and plenty of other sites already had this information out there minutes after the show wrapped up, I’m sure.
Embedded below is the PlayStation YouTube playlist including all of the event’s trailers:
