Lince Works studio director announced Aragami on the PlayStation Blog. A quick summary:
Aragami is a stealth game in which you play an undead assassin with the power to control the shadows. The darkness is your ally and the source of your strength, letting you teleport instantly to any other shadow, create new areas of darkness to stay invisible, materialize physical weapons and traps from thin air, or even summon a shadow dragon to decapitate your target.
Ok, seriously, who isn't interested after reading that? Seriously, "a shadow dragon to decapitate your target?" How aren't you excited after that? Well, if you need more, here's the reveal trailer.
Inspired by the likes of Tenchu and Metal Gear Solid, and even Dishonored and Mark of the Ninja, Lince Works aims to take stealth games back to their roots, somewhat like 2014's Thief, wherein the player is placed in situations with the odds stacked against them. They feel stealth games have moved too far from "stealth" as it used to be, and I kinda agree. Have you seen Dishonored? There are a lot of "full frontal assault" ways to play. Lince Works want to change that.
In Aragami, you are outmatched, outnumbered, and completely alone. You have nothing but the sword on your back, the darkness around you, and your own wits. Good luck.
The setting takes cues from Okami and Journey and it shows, the landscape has a beautifully cel-shaded mysticsm to it that can't be ignored. I'm sure there'll be times when I simply stop and stare at the world around me. Perhaps while I'm studying enemy patrol patterns, as I'm sure there will be a lot of that.
Aragami is set for release this fall on PlayStation 4, for more details on Aragami, check out the offical PlayStation Blog post. If you're as excited as I am, let me know in the comments or on my social media, @OmegaSpider227.
