Mirror's Edge Coming to Television...?

Endemol Shine Studios has acquired the rights to make Mirror's Edge into a "female-centered action series." Endemol Shine Studios' President Sharon Hall states, "We clearly see Mirror’s Edge as a franchise for the global TV audience. It has a strong female protagonist, a wildly rabid fan base and a worldwide brand that Electronic Arts and EA DICE have done an amazing job establishing.”

Endemol Shine Studios handles scripted programming for Endemol Shine North America, and produces television shows such as AMC's Hell on Wheels. Endemol Shine North America also works on a number of reality TV series, including CBS' Big Brother, NBC's The Biggest Loser and Fox's MasterChef.

That last bit was lifted from (hopesully) friendly site Polygon's original article, but only because the official announcement on Deadline failed to establish Endemol's history. Those last titles named don't really instill confidence.

Don't get me wrong, I want this to do well. If this does well, it could open doors for other games to make the transition from gaming to television, much in the way Arrow, The Flash, and now Supergirl have gone from comics to television hits. I just don't know enough about Endemol or any of their shows to know how this could go, aside form that Hell on Wheels is loosely based on historical events. "Loosely based" doesn't help either.

Assuming this does do well, it could bolster mindshare, and ultimately sales for Mirror's Edge Catalyst, which could convince EA to publish a proper sequel following the story of the reboot.

Lets just hope Faith can get a good momentum going before this show begins.
