Battlefield V Delayed to November

EA stocks take a hit as a result

DICE General Manager Oskar Gabrielson posted an update to the Battlefield V official website that the anticipated World War II shooter will have a new release date: November 20.

Over the course of the summer, thousands of players have gotten their hands on the game during its closed alphas, as well as at E3 and Gamescom, and the team at DICE has gotten enormous amounts of feedback. Gabrielson states that some of that feedback has pushed DICE towards making what they feel are more "meaningful improvements to the core gameplay experience."

"We’re going to take the time to continue to make some final adjustments to core gameplay, and to ensure we really deliver on the potential of Tides of War. We know moving the launch date means that we all have to wait a little longer. But we’re going to take our time to make sure we get it right." - Oskar Gabrielson

This change comes as little surprise considering Battlefield V was not in the most advantageous position. Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is set to release October 12, one week before Battlefield V's original Oct 19 date, then Red Dead Redemption 2 hits one week later on Oct 26. It wasn't the safest spot for Battlefield V. Unfortunately, this decision did cause EA stock to drop by nearly 9% and EA's 2019 fiscal earnings have been reduced as well.

The post by Gabrielson did, however, confirm that the Battlefield V beta will still happen on Sept 6, and although Battle Royale was mentioned in the post, there was nothing about whether the mode will hit on the new launch day or not.
