No Man's Sky servers being wiped and PC launch pushed back a bit

No Man's Sky servers being wiped and PC launch pushed back a bit

Although some players have gotten a hold of No Man's Sky early, it may not matter much as the servers are being wiped prior to launch. Hello Games senior programmer Harry Denholm confirmed on Twitter that "servers are being wiped on Sunday."

This news come by way of a response to Kotaku, who acquired the game early through a retailer who broke street date. Kotaku posted an article about a "Kotaku planet" that can be found in-game, though it remains unclear is said planet will withstand the upcoming cleaning of the universal slate.

It seems those who've obtained the game early won't experience any kind of downtime while the servers are down as No Man's Sky can be played offline, it is being billed as a single-player game after all. Even so, internet connectivity will be necessary for any discoveries to be registered.

In related news, Hello Games' Sean Murray tweeted confirmation of the official PC release date. The PC release date has been a thing of confusion of late, as Hello Games' website displayed one date, while the games' Steam page showed another. Now, the confusion has been cleared up, as Sean Murray tweeted the official PC date: Aug 12.

So, 3 days after the PS4 date. As far as delays go, this is pretty OK. They're holding the PC version back to make it the "best version [they] can," and I think that's alright. After all, its just three days. I can wait that long. Although, I must admit it has been rather rough keeping myself as spoiler-free as possible, since there are so many out there playing and streaming the game early.
