No Man's Sky's first update, update 1.03, will be available at launch and Hello Games's Sean Murray has given some details on what the update will include.
First off, in this little blog update, Murray talks about why the team decided not to take time off since the game went gold a short while ago, and instead began working on this new update:
We’re already proud of what we put on a disk, but if we had time, why not continue to update it.
The full update notes can be found below. Be warned: there's a lot there and there may be possible spoilers. Because there's just so much cover, I'm just going to point out the ones I find interesting.
To start with, the Universe itself has been enlarged. Planets have been shifted, environments have changed, whole galaxies are roughly 10x larger.
Suit inventories have been upgraded to hold up to 5x more items per slot; there have been some tweaks to environments that can kill you, namely storms and atmospheres that require you keep your suit charged. Keeping your suit up to date can cost rare resources, so be mindful.
One of my favorites is "Exploits - infinite warp cell exploit and rare goods trading exploit among other removed. People using these cheats were ruining the game for themselves, but people are weird and can’t stop themselves ¯\_(シ)_/¯"
And of course, pets! "Feeding – creatures now have their own diet, based on planet and climate. Feeding them correctly will yield different results per species, such as mining for you, protecting the player, becoming pets, alerting you to rare loot or pooping valuable resources."
Sound like I'll be searching for a little Nibbler somewhere in the universe.
No Man's Sky hits TOMORROW on PS4, Aug 12 on PC. I can't wait to see everyone's amazing discoveries!
