PS Plus Not a Requirement for No Man's Sky
Hello Games' newest and largest game to date, No Man's Sky, is so vast that its 18+ quintillion planets means that although the game is technically a shared universe, it may be best not to count on coming across any other players while you're out exploring.
The game is so vast, in fact, that both Hello Games and Sony have deemed it more of a single-player experience, regardless of multiplayer support. Game Informer Australia reached out to Sony for more details and gathered some interesting bits of info, specifically, this quote:
“PS Plus won’t be a requirement to play online, however you will need to connected to the internet for your discoveries to register with the universal atlas.”
The Atlas is the No Man's Sky version of a massive universal (pardon the pun) leaderboard that uploads the discoveries of each and every player who discovers a planet, race, or otherwise unknown something. Let's be honest, pretty much everyone will be discovering quite a bit, but don't plan to be doing much discovering with a partner.
Let's get ready to discover as much as we can August 9.
