Slightly Narrowed time frame for Kingdom Hearts 3 and Final Fantasy VII Remake
Feels like Square Enix has been in the news a lot lately. Well, they don't seem to be slowing down, so who am I to stop them?
We already knew not to expect Kingdom Hearts III or Final Fantasy VII Remake until at least 2018, but now Yosuke Matsuda, CEO at Square Enix, in a call to investors yesterday, confirmed that these two game should be in public hands before 2020. So... three years.
As far as Final Fantasy VII Remake, this isn't terribly surprising. In fact, I'm pretty sure I predicted 2020 at the earliest, so this actually comes as good news to me. Just this week, we learned that the company is still looking for employees for work on this game, so we know this will be a while.
The remaining question is will the entire game be released by then? Recall, if you will, that Square announced VII Remake as an episodic sort of game. So, will the whole game be available by then, or just one or two parts? Only time will tell.
Kingdom Hearts 3 on the other hand, has been in development for a good, long while. I can only hope this game will be out well before 2020, but I lost most hope this game even exists a while ago. I'll believe when it's in my hands.
